The Heathlands Course – Osprey Valley Resorts, Caledon , Ontario
With the understanding that Osprey Valley would eventually become a multi - course golf facility, the design challenge for the Heathlands Course was to create a distinctive “one of a kind” golf experience from the flat, featureless and compact 165 acre farm, located an hour drive north of Toronto.
Inspired by a round of golf played at Portmarnock in Ireland, The Heathlands Course at Osprey Valley was designed to pay homage to the classic links characteristics with its gnarly fescue covered mounds, imposing pot bunkers and intricately contoured greens, surrounded by closely mown bumps and hollows.
Initial design work began in February of 1991 and by the end of September all 18 holes were built and seeded, representing an unprecedented schedule from start to finish
