Copper Creek Golf Club, Kleinburg, Ontario
Copper Creek’s natural beauty lies within the scenic Humber River Valley as holes descend from the valley ridge into a secluded forest setting for holes 4 through 11. The extensively detailed course design and sympathetic planning process helped to create an environmentally sensitive layout that met the stringent requirements of the local Conservation Authority.
The project included very detailed mitigation plans, a comprehensive storm water management plan and an extensive drainage network to collect all surface water for irrigation usage. This was all done to ensure the protection of fish habitat and efficient water use from the Humber River.
The course design features a series of ponds located mainly on the tablelands for water storage and are interconnected to the main irrigation pond located in the valley adjacent to the 9th and 10th holes. The ponds are strategically incorporated into a series of thought provoking holes that are fun to play, with interesting risk/reward options for golfers of all abilities.
The impressive clubhouse overlooks the scenic Humber River valley and provides a spectacular setting for weddings, banquets and corporate outings.
Copper Creek was voted the Best New Course in Ontario in 2002 by Ontario Golf Magazine.
