Cobble Beach Golf Links, Owen Sound, Ontario
Inspired by California’s legendary Pebble Beach Golf Links and other great seaside courses of the world, Cobble Beach Golf Links was designed to take full advantage of more than 3 kilometers of dramatic shoreline.
Founder Willis McLeese envisioned the creation of a world class golf course residential community on a stunning 574 acre property located 2 ½ hours from Toronto, on the western shores of Georgian Bay. The golf course twists, turns and plunges across the undulating terrain with views of the lake from every hole. Small pot bunkers, hummocky fairways, closely mown chipping areas and hollows surrounding the greens provide the fast-running, bump-and-run characteristics typically found on the great links courses of Scotland and Ireland.
An interesting aspect of the project included working with archaeologists to preserve navigational heritage sites along the water’s edge.
Cobble Beach Golf Links was voted the Best New Course in Ontario in 2007 by Ontario Golf Magazine and Fairways Magazine.
